Redecorating on a Budget: Deals this week

Many people save redecorating for the spring, but if you want to get the jump on "Spring Cleaning" then you might as well start now.  No time like the present :)  There are a couple of good deals on furniture and knick knacks this week.  However, these deals won't last long--one will expire in a couple of days and the other might run out of discounted merchandise in the near future.

The first is June Moon Furniture in Berkley.

 

They sell a number of masterful reproductions of work by modernist masters like Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames, Eero Saarinen, Phillippe Starck, George Nelson, Eileen Gray and more.  Little factoid for my Michiganders who might need a reason to boast to out-of-state friends:  Bertoia, Eames, and Saarinen all studied at the Cranbrook Institute in Bloomfield Hills.  Yet another reason to be proud to be from our great state.

Back on track:  June Moon is having an excellent Groupon sale:

• For $19, you get $40 worth of furniture and accessories.
• For $89, you get $200 worth of furniture.
• For $199, you get $500 worth of furniture.

If you're on a tighter budget, then the deals at the Canton IKEA might be of interest.  They are running a special on a few functional items for the home.



This is set of 3 DRAGAN jars with lids on sale for $9.99.  The jars are made of bamboo and can be used to store little bathroom necessities like cotton balls or q-tips.  It looks like IKEA will be discontinuing these jars and right now, you can only buy them on sale or on Ebay.  They retail on ebay for $23.99 plus $8.99 for shipping. That markup was high enough to make me choke on my coffee this morning.  


Next is the Flata Wastepaper basket on sale for $7.99.  I've seen similar wastepaper baskets retailing at Walmart for almost $15.  So, this is a pretty good deal.







One of the best deals is on the Galant draw unit (in birch only). This one normally retails for $160, but it's on sale for $99.  In addition to the storage space and compartments, it also has a combination lock to secure whatever valuable papers you choose to store in it.
